Writing
Bio
| A lifelong writer and designer, I am also a San Francisco
filmmaker and commercial director of photography. I shoot film and video,
employ computer technology, collaborate with other creative people, and write. I have a BA from
Dartmouth, majoring in American letters and writing. I've taught school in Beirut Lebanon,
escaped death in Amman Jordan, studied filmmaking in Paris France, shot and directed
commercials and corporate films and documentaries, been President of the Board of
Berkeley Montessori School for four years, am presently Communications
Director for the Novus School, and for the last twenty years have lived and
worked in Oakland California, across the bay from San Francisco. My wife Victoria
Wise,
who was the first chef at Chez Panisse, writes cookbooks (The Smith
& Hawken Garden Community Cookbook, The Well Filled
Tortilla, The Well Filled Microwave, Vegetarian Cooking/Mexico, Vegetarian Cooking/Japan,
Good And Plenty/America's Home Cooking, American Charcuterie, etc.) My
fifteen-year old son is a high school sophomore.
