| An unusually large budget for a tiny123 production, tiny123/Rick Wise produced, directed, shot and supervised the edit for "Tough Guys," a spot for CSK Auto Parts (Kragen / Chuck's / Checker brands) out of Phoenix, AZ. We came in $2,000 under the $35,000 budget. Darrell Flowers gaffed, Josh Koral crafted the hot-rod shopping cart, Blade Editorial in Phoenix finished. We shot HD with a Panasonic Varicam. Accelerated scenes we taped at 4 fps with a 240° shutter. Base rate was 30p which we think provides a better film-look than 24p. Certain segments we shot at 60p for full post manipulation. | |
This :30 spot cried out, “shoot me on mini-DV.” Filming
with an Aaton Minima and just three prime
lenses, we
pulled it off in super 16mm. Brad Burchill (agency: The Ranch) directed,
with tiny123/Rick Wise serving as director of photography, line producer,
post producer, and craft-services. We had one gaffer (Darrell Flowers,)
one PA-grip, and one AC (Rod Williams.) Retina (Gary Coates) transferred,
and Rough House (Roger Krakow) finessed post. |
